MACHAKOS, Kenya, Oct 4 – Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has constituted a special taskforce to fast track reforms in all hospitals and health centres across the county.

Mutua said the taskforce is expected to hand in its findings and recommendations within two weeks so that they can be implemented.

”My commitment is to ensure that Machakos remains the best county in offering quality health care,” said Mutua.

He said that renovation of facilities in all health centres across the county were ongoing in a bid to ensure service delivery was at its best.

”I have also ordered that no patients share beds in any hospital.

That is a directive since we have enough beds and linen in the health facilities,” said Mutua.

He said quality health care was a right to the people of Machakos and not a privilege.

”I want the level of health care in Machakos to be of international standards with the patient coming first,” said Mutua.

He added that working and living conditions of health personnel were being improved so as to motivate them.

Mutua added that demands by doctors had been met and were part of the reforms that were being implemented to enhance service delivery in all hospitals.
