NAIROBI, Kenya, October 6 – Former National Youth Service (NYS) Director General Nelson Githinji has tabled documents showing that his former deputy Adan Harakhe approved transactions that led to the loss of Sh695.4 million.
Appearing before the National Assembly Parliamentary Accounts Committee on Thursday, Githinji indicated that Harakhe had access to the NYS IFMIS Systems three months before his formal appointment as AIE holder.
He also provided documentation to prove that Harakhe lied under oath and indicated that he was in direct contact with former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru despite the fact that he was to supervise him.
When he appeared before the committee, Harakhe told the House team that he never approved any payments during his brief tenure as AIE holder.
