NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27- The United Nations has recognized the efforts of Sheikh Adan Wachu in advocating for the end of preventable maternal deaths as the Chairperson of Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK).

He was declared as the second runners up person of 2016 in a ceremony held at the UN headquarters at Gigiri in Nairobi.

The UN said it awarded Wachu for his abilities to bring together the Government, other development partners and the council in addressing the problem of maternal deaths in the country.

“This award was in respect to of the role I took in partnership with the Kenya Government and development partners,” Wachu said, “I am proud to be honoured for the efforts.”
