Wavinya Ndeti mourns death of her Nigerian husband

NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 25 – Former Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Wavinya Ndeti is in mourning the death of her husband Dolamu Henry Oduwole.

The CCU party leader who also served as Kathiani MP announced on her social media that her husband died on Sunday morning at a Nairobi hospital where was rushed after his blood pressure shot up drastically.

The Nigerian had been in and out of hospital for a while.

“I am deeply saddened to announce the demise of my beloved husband who passed on early this (Sunday) morning,” she wrote on her Twitter and Facebook accounts, ““He fought a good fight and as a family we pray that God will grant us strength to endure this devastating loss.”

She urged “God to grant my families in Kenya and Nigeria, our friends, partners and the people of Machakos a comforting hand during this trying time. Rest well my darling till we meet again.”

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu were among leaders who condoled with the family.

Ngilu, who Wavinya has often described as her mentor in politics, mourned the late Oduwole as a “very humble and respectful man”.

“My sister and friend, Hon Wavinya Ndeti, kindly accept my condolences over the passing of your beloved husband and father of your children,” she said.

On his part, Mutua said the death of Oduwole was a big blow and pledged to stand with the family during the trying moment.

“May the Lord grant Hon Ndeti and her family the strength to bear the loss of her loving husband,” Mutua said in his statement.

Ndeti is eying the Machakos Gubernatorial seat.
