Thousands stranded after ferry broke down in Mombasa

MOMBASA, Kenya Sep 30 – Hundreds of passengers were stranded at the Likoni Channel in Mombasa after one of the ferries broke down on the ramp this morning.

Only two ferries were operating but are overwhelmed by the number of passengers waiting to cross from or to the mainland.

Likoni police boss Willy Simba told Capital FM News that several people were injured during a struggle to board the two remaining ferries, immediately the third broke down for fear of delays.
