According to airport officials, the plane burst all its tyres at about 9am while taking off affecting the landing and departure of planes at the airport.
Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) officials afterwards conducted an operation to get the aircraft off the runway.
Several passengers were stranded at the airport and many had to cancel their flights.
Reports indicated that the plane had four KDF officers who were not injured during the incident.
A team from KAA and Kenya Airways engineers were mobilised with equipment and spares to carry out the task.
Moi International Airport has only one runway and KDF is investigating the cause of the incident.
