MOMBASA, Kenya, Sept 16 – A Mombasa court has allowed police to detain Haniya Said Saggar – the widow of the slain radical Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo – for seven days to enable them complete investigation into her alleged links to terror activities.

Mombasa Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Mutunga said Saggar must remain in custody since the matter under probe was sensitive and of great public interest.

Saggar is allegedly linked to Sunday attack at Mombasa Central Police Station where three female attackers were killed by police officers when they stormed the police station.

Mutunga said police required more time to probe her links to the attack and financing of terrorism activities in the country.

The case will be mentioned on 23rd of September.

Director of Public Prosecution DPP had earlier applied for 14 days to enable the officers complete what he termed as complex investigation that involves analyzing Saggar mobile phone and sim card by Cyber crime detectives.

Saggar was arrested on Wednesday as part of investigation into the aborted attack that left three female terrorists killed and two police officers wounded.

Haniya is also accused of collecting funds to support terrorism activities in the Country.

Coast County Commander Peterson Maelo stated that the women in Hijabs had pretended that they were reporting a stolen mobile phone when one of them stabbed two officers at the report office.

The third hurled a petrol bomb at the station, setting off a fire and prompting officers to open fire on them.
