NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 9 – The Party of National Unity (PNU) has finally agreed to dissolve, a day after the deadline passed on Thursday when 11 other parties affiliated to the Jubilee Party decamped for the bigger party.

PNU however raised concerns over how it will benefit from its assets once it joins JP and also the positions that its members will get.

“PNU is a big party. We have our resources, we have a very big building and we have great leaders, we want to know how our assets will be guarded if we join JP,” a delegate from Mombasa complained.

PNU Chairman John Kamama who spoke on behalf of former President Mwai Kibaki who is recovering after a surgery in South Africa told the delegates that their concerns would be addressed once they merged with Jubilee’s 12 other parties that dissolved their parties on Wednesday.

He said PNU would become stronger if it joined the bigger ship – JP to propel the party’s goals of development and unity.

“We can only merge first for us to know about the plight of our assets and what we will get. President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy will sort all of our concerns. They already know how to deal with this,” he stated.

On Wednesday Ruto’s party United Republican Party (URP), the Grand National Union (GNU) party, FORD People, TIP TIP and President Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) dissolved their parties at the Kasarani National Stadium.
