The number of broadband subscriptions increased by 19.3 percent to reach 6.3 million up from 5.3 million subscriptions recorded during the previous quarter marking a penetration level of 14.7 percent during the same period.

“We are quickly moving into a very technological advanced state. Almost everyone has a mobile phone,” she said, while indicating that an SMS forum will also be launched, for Kenyans who are yet to get a Smartphone.

In 2015, IMLU recorded 126 cases of extra-judicial cases and forced disappearances while the number stand at 114 and it may even increase, “if Kenyans effectively start using the app to report these cases.”

Other than providing crucial information on bill of rights, a victim can press a panic button while in real danger without exposing himself to more threats.

Lately, the country has seen an upsurge in the cases of extra judicial killings and torture with several others remaining not reported due to victims fearing for their lives according to Nyatete.
