KISUMU, Kenya Sep 30 -There are chaos in the outskirts of Kisumu after residents barricaded roads to protest the alleged abduction of a Ward representative.

Paul Okiri, the Ward Representative for West Kisumu was last seen yesterday, raising fears he may have been abducted by his rivals due to his firm stand on governance issues at the County Assembly.

His vehicle and mobile phone were found abandoned near his home.

Police were deployed to battle residents who barricaded the main road to Busia on Friday morning to protest the alleged abduction.

The protests paralysed transport on busy road, with residents vowing to make it worse unless he is produced.

Police have said they are still looking for him and appealed for information that could lead to his whereabouts even as they launched an investigation.
