NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 1 – The Jubilee Party is set to be launched during a two-day national convention set to take place on Friday and Saturday next week.

Prior to that, 12 constituent parties will hold their National Delegates Congress at the Bomas of Kenya on Thursday to ratify their merger with the Jubilee Party.

During the NDC, all merging parties will dissolve to pave way for the new party.

On Friday, delegates will officially bring the Jubilee Party into being before it is launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday.

At the event, the new party headquarters will also be unveiled and a team set up to run registration and coordinate grassroots campaigns.

During the announcement for the launch of the new party, President Kenyatta had stated that that there will be no preferred candidates during the polls and pointed out that each contender will have to be elected democratically.

The Head of State further indicated that party nominations will be carried out by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.
