MACHAKOS, Kenya, Sept 16 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua ended his three day tour of South Rift with a message that his Maendeleo Chap Chap movement will offer a vehicle for political and economic transformation in the country.
Mutua who spoke at well attended meetings in Kericho County said the movement will spread its ideology to all corners of the country.
“We will travel to Kisumu , Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Mandera, Turkana, Kilfi, Turkana, Mombasa, Garissa, Nyeri, Bomet, Kisumu and Murang’a among other areas,”said Mutua.
The governor who toured Kapsoit and Sosiot trading centres in Ainamoi and Belgut constituencies said the movement will be committed and faithful to the improvement of our way of life so as to effectively deal with poverty.
His tour has also taken him to Kisii and Narok County where he decried divisive politics which he said were a threat to national cohesion.
Mutua said his movement was a social outfit embracing all facets of life, with its foundation and clarion call being based on the slogan ” INAWEZEKANA na ITAWEZEKANA”. (It is possible and it will be possible).
“Maendeleo Chap Chap is about focused, quality and efficient delivery of services and projects that change the lives of wananchi in a way that can be seen,”said Mutua.
He was accompanied by Kericho governor Prof Paul Chepkwony who lauded Mutua as a development conscious leader.
Chepkwony said he will lead a delegation to Machakos to benchmark on the various developments achieved.
Mutua said leaders should concentrate in creating a country where politics and development are not based on tribes but opportunities for all, especially young people.
“That’s why I am introducing a paradigm shift and a new way of doing things in politics and development,” said Mutua.
He said it was a shame that fifty years after our country’s independence, our mothers, sisters and daughters are still carrying water using jerricans on their backs like donkeys.
“It is a shame and unacceptable in this day and age, and we must change by embracing politics of development and poverty,” said Mutua.
He said it is a tragedy that Kenyans are obsessed with negative and backwards politics that have rendered them poor.
