NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 10 – A trip for 64 students from Victorian Academy, Meru County to represent their school at the music festival was tragically cut short on Wednesday afternoon after the bus ferrying overturned on Langata Road killing one pupil.

The girls’ primary school shone during their well rehearsed performance the day before and were headed to Nairobi Primary School for a repeat of the same when tragedy struck.

Witnesses say the accident occurred when the driver tried to avoid hitting a car ahead of it as it slowed down at bumps.

An official of the school who spoke to Capital FM News said confusion as to what school they were to report to is what led them half way across town from their intended destination.

Adding regretfully that performing on Wednesday was a last minute plan as they had wrapped up their activities the day before and the recall was as a result of the great performance by some of the students.

Dressed in their school uniform complete with their performance props the clearly shaken up injured students were ferried by good Samaritans and ambulances to various hospitals for treatment.
