NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 5 – Police have launched a manhunt for four hardcore inmates who escaped from the Kibos Prison in Kisumu Thursday night.
Kisumu County Police chief Joseph Keitany says the four were being held for capital offences.
He says police and prison officers have concentrated the search in nearby sugar plantations where the inmates are believed to be hiding.
A probe has already been launched to establish how they escaped while a team of officers has been dispatched to the ground to track them down.
“Our officers are in hot pursuit of the escaped inmates. I appeal to the public to assist us with any information that could lead to their arrest,” he said.
Police are using sniffer dogs to comb the plantations surrounding the prison.
