When Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero offered to officiate at the opening, MCAs affiliated to Jubilee threatened to scuttle the event, leading to a total cancellation.

“You should have respect for our government. Yes we know that we are a minority in the County Assembly but we have a voice and we need to be heard,” the MCAs affiliated to Jubilee stated.

They were of the opinion that the official sent by the National Government should be the one to open the chamber and this caused the event to be postponed indefinitely.

After a long wait, the red-carpet that had been laid out in front of the chambers was rolled up and the chamber closed with Kidero only stating that, “It will be opened at a later date.”

The Jubilee MCAs said they would not attend the function if Dr Kidero presides over the ceremony.

Meanwhile, restless invited guests started walking out after waiting for more than two hours with no sign of the event starting.
