NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 2- A conman who has been on a police watch list in major towns in the country has been arrested in Nyahururu Town.

Nyandarua North Police Chief Timon Odingo, says the man has been posing as a lecturer at Masinde Muliro University and Kenyatta University and claimed he had various job opportunities that he would offer to students as part time jobs.

The man was arrested as he was soliciting money from students of Laikipia University in the pretext that he would offer them jobs.

According to Odingo he was asking for Sh1,000 from each of the students as “insurance fee” before he could offer them the jobs.

“It was after the students got suspicious that they informed us. We sent our officers who pretended that they were also students and paid the fee only not to be issued with a receipt. That is when we arrested the man,” he said.

The OCPD said that it was after investigations that they established that he was on a police watch list having conned people in Eldoret, Nakuru, Kakamega and Nairobi.

“This is a man who was being sought by the police having conned people a lot of money. We will arraign him in court and later take him to the areas that he is being sought,” he said.
