NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 9 – The vehicle stolen from the wife of politician Peter Kenneth at the weekend has been found in Busia.

The Land Rover Freelander was recovered in Amagoro already fitted with a Uganda number plate.

A suspect who was driving it has been detained to assist police with investigations as the hunt for his accomplices intensifies.

Kenneth’s wife, Ann Wanjiru, was carjacked on Saturday night while driving into their home in Kiuna by armed thugs who posed as guards at the gate.

Wanjiru was not harmed during the robbery.

According to police, the thugs had arrived earlier at the home and took the security guards on duty hostage.

The thugs stripped the guards and donned their uniform.

On the same day, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s kin Dr Njoroge Muigai was hijacked at the same point though police are yet to recover his car.

Muigai was driving a Volkswagen Tiguan which is believed to have been driven into Uganda, according to detectives.

Police have since questioned the guards on duty during the fateful night, in a bid to arrest the gunmen.

The two were abandoned in King’eero along Waiyaki way.

On September 2014, a BMW belonging to State House that was stolen in Nairobi was later found in Uganda.

The vehicle was found abandoned on the roadside in Tororo.

The vehicle was hijacked in Ruai from a driver attached to State House.

He was later abandoned in Embakasi having been robbed of money and other valuables.
