NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14 – The interviews for those shortlisted for the position of Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and a judge of the Supreme Court will be conducted for a six week period starting Monday, August the 29 to Friday, October 7.
The candidates for the position of Chief Justice will be interviewed first at the Supreme Court Library on the week beginning August 29 every day until Saturday, September 3 at 9am each starting with Court of Appeal judge Alnashir Visram followed by High Court judge Msagha Mbogholi, Court of Appeal judge David Maraga, advocate Nzamba Kitonga, Court of Appeal judge Roselyne Nambuye and ending with Supreme Court judge Smokin Wanjala.
The interviews for the position of Deputy Chief Justice will commence on Tuesday, September 6 the following week with two candidates interviewed daily – excluding Friday, September 9 – in the morning and afternoon until the morning of Thursday September 15.
Lady Justice Abida Ali-Aroni will be the first of the all female candidates shortlisted for the job of Deputy Chief Justice to be interviewed followed by Court of Appeal judge Agnes Kalekye Murgor in the afternoon.
Court of Appeal judge Wanjiru Karanja will be the last of the contenders for the job of Deputy Chief Justice to be interviewed on the morning of September 15.

The Judicial Service Commission will then take a week-long break before embarking on interviews for the vacancy of a judge of the Supreme Court on the morning of Monday, September 26 all the way to Friday, October 7 again with two interviews a day.
Justice Visram who has also been shortlisted for the job of Chief Justice will again go first followed by Lady Justice Murgor in the afternoon and Karanja will again go in last for the interview for a Supreme Court judge in the afternoon of October 7.
Those who’ve been shortlisted for more than one of the three vacancies such as Court of Appeal judge Nambuye who has been shortlisted for all three; will be interviewed separately for the posts.
The public has been invited to submit written information, “of interest with respect to any of the shortlisted candidates,” through the Secretary to the Commission, Atieno Amadi.
Those who do have been advised that they may be interviewed by the Commission but that the information they provide will be kept confidential.
