NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 30 — First Lady Margaret Kenyatta received Sh20 million and a new mobile clinic in support of her Beyond Zero initiative on Friday.

The cheque of Sh20 million was donated by the Africa Reinsurance Corporation through its group Managing Director and CEO Corneille Karekezi while the fully kitted mobile clinic was donated by I & M Bank through its Director Eric Kimani.

Speaking on behalf of the African Reinsurance Corporation, Karekezi assured the First Lady of their support in her noble initiative.

They said the African Reinsurance Corporation is committed to being part of the First Lady’s efforts to improve the health of women and children.

On his part, Kimani said the First Lady has been a great inspiration to many Kenyans. He said the donation of the fully kitted mobile clinic is testimony of his bank’s belief in the First Lady’s vision.

“Today’s presentation of a fully equipped mobile clinic by our bank is a clear statement from us that we believe that achieving Beyond Zero Maternal and Infant Mortality is possible,” Kimani said.

The First Lady thanked all well-wishers for their support saying the response from Kenyans towards the Beyond Zero campaign had been tremendous.

“One needs to go to the ground to see for themselves, the response is overwhelming,” said the First Lady.

She made the case that large counties require more than one mobile clinic and called for more support from well-wishers.
