NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 22 – Four people died after a wall at a construction site on General Mathenge Road in Westlands, Nairobi collapsed.

Those who were killed were said to be a carpenter, steel structure fixer, and two casual labourers.

Ten people injured during the Thursday incident were rushed to Avenue Hospital. Nine were discharged, while one remained admitted and is recuperating.

Witness said the 5pm incident occurred after the wall adjacent to the construction site crumbled due to loose soil.

The Site Project Manager Clement Moi said there were 200 employees at the site.

The rescuers led by a team from the Kenya Defence Forces pulled out the bodies which were buried under rubble of the collapsed wall.

The workers were setting up steel beams to help support what the site project manager says will be a four-level basement parking.

The Kenya Red Cross, National Youth Service and the Kenya Defence Forces combined search efforts.
