NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 9 – The testimony of Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero at the tribunal investigating claims that he bribed a Supreme Court judge with Sh200 million has been deferred to Tuesday next week.
Chairman Sharad Rao says Kidero can only be heard once two officials of a mobile telecommunications company testify on phone records relied on to link him to the bribery claims.
Kidero and Kiprop Chirchir who is said to have accompanied the governor to a fuel station on Waiyaki Way, where the money allegedly exchanged hands were at the tribunal Thursday morning but could not testify.
Kidero is accused of bribing Supreme Court judge Philip Tunoi to get a favourable ruling in his election petition.
Kidero has previously denied the allegations saying he has never had an encounter with the Judge, apart from seeing him at the Supreme Court during the petition challenging his 2013 poll win.
