NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 10 – Former Wananchi Group CEO Richard Alden has been charged in court over last week’s murder of Grace Wangechi Kinyanjui at his home in Windy Ridge Road, Karen.
Alden, whose wife was in court, denied murdering Wangechi last Saturday.
His lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Tom Okundi have applied to have him released on bail, saying that he is not a flight risk since he took the deceased to hospital.
Alden was remanded until Thursday next week to give the Director of Public Prosecutions time to respond to the bail application.
Alden claimed that Wangechi, whom he had spent most of the day with, shot herself dead in his house.
Wangechi, 42, suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach.
