NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 14 – Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has met the Gikuyu Council of Elders who sought clarification on his remarks over the 2022 General Election.

The elders led by the National Chairman Samuel K. Migua noted that while the region was in support of William Ruto in 2022, there was need for continuous internal consultations so settle on voting as a bloc.

“DP Ruto is guaranteed total support by the region but we must continuously consult and engage him before 2022 and that is all that Governor Kabogo is saying,” Maigua explained.

The leaders also expressed concern at the inaccurate media reports purporting that Kabogo had directly said that the region would not vote for DP Ruto in 2022.

“We have listened to the audio clips and we concluded that the speech was totally distorted and they misquoted Mr Kabogo,” Maigua said.

Political leaders have been up in arms condemning Kabogo with most of them accusing him of using the issue to amass following to launch his candidacy for the Deputy President’s position.
