Armed man barricaded at German cinema is dead: authorities

Francfort, Germany, Jun 23 – An armed man who allegedly barricaded himself in a German cinema with several people inside Thursday is dead, Hesse state interior minister Peter Beuth said.

Beuth said the assailant died in a struggle with police, without giving further details.

Unconfirmed media reports said the masked man had stormed the multiplex in the western town of Viernheim and that several people were hurt, possibly by tear gas in a police operation.
