, NAIROBI, Kenya, June 24 – Three suspected kidnappers were on Friday morning arrested and a female victim rescued in a police operation in Ruiru area.

According to the Head of the Special Crimes Prevention Unit Noah Katumo, the three who include a woman had kidnapped a female passenger who was waiting to board a Matatu along the Eastern Bypass and demanded a ransom of Sh200,000.

β€œThe family of the woman managed to send Sh15,000 to the kidnappers as they waited for the balance to release her,” he said.

He stated that a team of detectives from the unit tracked the gang up to the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway where they found the woman blindfolded and a piece of clothe stuffed into her mouth but alive.

He pointed out that three kidnappers have been mentioned in at least five such cases and are being held at Ruiru police station.

Police now want anyone who has been a victim to go there and help in identifying them.
