NAIROBI, Kenya, May 18 – President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to begin his tour of the Lower Eastern region from June 10 to 13.

The new dates were agreed on during a meeting with a team of leaders from the area including 12 members of Parliament led by Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu.

Following Wednesday’s discussions, it was agreed that the president will start off his tour of the lower Eastern region in Machakos, then proceed to Kitui and conclude with Makueni on June 13.

While in Kitui, he is scheduled to attend an inter-denominational church service planned to coincide with his visit.

During the meeting at State House Nairobi, the leaders also discussed development initiatives in the region.

The visit was initially set for May 19, 20 and 21.

“The leaders acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances that led to the postponement of the visit, but were delighted that it had allowed them more time to prepare, including ensuring that all projects to be commissioned were readied,” State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu explained.
