DP Ruto says govt ready for talks with Opposition over IEBC

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka said the Government was not afraid of the Opposition because it was on the right track in delivering on its pledges.

The MPs said they will only engage the Opposition if they adhered to the Constitution.

“We will not engage in talks if Cord continues with their protests and chest thumping,” said Ichungwa.

Kuria said although President Uhuru Kenyatta can meet Odinga, the discussion on IEBC could only be resolved by Parliament as the law states.

The MPs said it was only Parliament that can resolve any issues on IEBC and not “other friendly talks outside the law’.

Kiunjuri said Cord was aware it would lose the election that is why it was engaging in sideshows.

Governor Lusaka said the Opposition had run out of ideas that were why it was engaging in disruptive behaviour and sabotage.

Waititu and Kuria said the Jubilee administration had a huge following, which will make it triumph in the 2017 elections.

They accused Cord of sabotaging the economy by engaging in protests.

“These protests are meant to ruin the economy and the tourism industry, which is getting to its feet,” said Kuria.
