NAIROBI, Kenya, April 1 – Kileleshwa Member of the County Assembly Elias Okumu was due in court Friday morning to face assault charges.
Okumu was arrested Thursday evening after he allegedly injured Kayole South MCA Elizabeth Manyara during an incident at City Hall two weeks ago.
He spent the night at the Central Police Station after he was arrested over the incident.
“Yes, we arrested him and he will be charged in court today. How can he assault a woman. That is not good behaviour especially from a leader,” Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome told Capital FM News.
Manyara alleged that Okumu, who is also the Majority Leader at the Nairobi County Assembly, slapped her several times and pushed her to the wall.
