MACHAKOS, Kenya, Apr 8 – Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that at least sitting 70 MPs and over 150 MCAs from across the country have expressed interest to vie on the ticket of Maendeleo Chap Chap once the movement becomes a political party.

He said the movement is anchored on the tenets of development, democracy, good governance and integrity among other key ideals.

Mutua said the response following the launch of the movement has been positive with people from various parts of the country desiring to become members.

“The movement is open to all and we will certainly provide a forum for change come 2017,” said Mutua.

He revealed that many sitting MPs and MCAs were afraid that they will be rigged by their current parties and denied nomination tickets.

Mutua was speaking at Mlolongo town where he opened a Maendeleo Chap Chap office and recruitment drive and later held a political rally.

He assured Mlolongo residents that the town’s roads and drainage systems will be upgraded and modern sheds erected at the main market.

Mutua said the movement was a paradigm shift in the way politics and development was being done adding he was committed to enhancing quality lives for the people of Machakos.

He said the movement had opened offices across Ukambani and other parts of the country and urged the public to register as members.

Mutua said Chap Chap was the only bonafide Ukambani movement that was managed by people from the community adding that it will provide solutions for local problems.
