NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 26 – Central Gem Ward Representative Fred Ouda Tuesday morning chained himself at the Nyanza Central Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices in Kisumu to protest against the institution.

Ouda stated that he took the protest at the local IEBC office after police tear-gassed CORD Principals led by Raila Odinga in Nairobi Monday.

He indicated that the country should not go to the next polls under the current Commission.

“Let me die for the sake of this country. I have a right to demonstrate and express my feelings. The current chairman of the IEBC must go. This country cannot go to another General Election with the current IEBC,” he stated.

He stated that it is within his constitutional right to demonstrate against the ills in the country.

Kisumu County AP Commander Joseph Keitany who arrived at the scene pleaded with him to stop the theatrics and join his colleagues who had organized a march to the IEBC offices.

Keitany explained that police had legalized the planned peaceful demonstration to hand over a petition to the local IEBC offices.

Police later broke the chain before driving him to the police station.

Ouda is remembered for stripping naked in Siaya when he protested against a remark made by Deputy President William Ruto.
