NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 4 – A man who allegedly defrauded different people in the pretext that he was in a position to recruit them to the National Police Service has been charged in a Nairobi Court.

Joseph Kipkoech Keino appeared before Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo but denied the charges.

The court heard that on March 18, 2016 at Wilson Airport within Nairobi County, Jointly with others not before court, Keino obtained Sh18,000 from Lesley Cherop Bungei with the intent to defraud him.

He is said to have pretended to be in a position to facilitate her cousin Abraham Kimtai Koech to be recruited as an Administration Police Officer in the National Police Service, a fact he knew to be false.

Kipkoech was also charged in another court with defrauding Cherop of Sh1,200 by falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate Koech to be recruited as an Administration Police Officer in the National Police.

He was also accused of obtaining a further Sh12,000 from her.

He was released on Sh100,000 cash bail.
