Nairobi, Kenya Apr 10 – Deputy President William Ruto has thanked Kenyans for their prayers during the six years of tribulations at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He said the prayers had been answered with the dismissal of charges last Tuesday.

Speaking at the PCEA Mwiki, in Kasarani where he attended a Sunday service, Ruto said he had forgiven all those who hatched falsehoods that were leveled against him and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang.

“I wish to thank all clerics including Pastors, Bishops, Imams, and Kenyans at large for praying for us and making Sang and I to be acquitted. I urge you to continue praying for the President and I to lead this country to greater prosperity.”

He said: “We have forgiven those who participated in taking us to The Hague, those who concocted falsehoods on issues we did not commit. The Lord’s prayer says we should forgive those who trespass against us.”

Ruto said Kenyans should pursue peace and reconciliation and find ways of moving the country forward.

The Government, he added, was committed to eradicating past politics of hatred, discrimination, tribalism, religious intolerance by promoting peaceful co-existence among all Kenyans.

“There is no one, or community, tribe or race that is here by mistake. We are all here by the grace of God and we must work together to move our country forward,” he said.

He added: “It is important to look for ways of peaceful co-existence as we develop this country.”
Ruto said the Jubilee administration will triumph in next year’s elections.

Quoting from the Bible Matthew Chapter 5 verse 9 Mr. Ruto said: “Blessed are the peace makers, for they will be called the children of God.”

Ruto challenged the Opposition to pursue peaceful do-existence because competition is meaningful in a peaceful stable nation. “Violence and hatred are the biggest threat to our democracy,” he added.

A section of leaders allied to Jubilee Party rallied support for Deputy President saying his journey to be President of Kenya in 2022 has begun.

They noted that the acquittal of the Deputy President from the case has fortified the resolve of Kenyans in supporting his candidature.

The leaders who spoke include Njoroge, Waweru, Shebesh and members of the Nairobi County Assembly.

However, Ruto urged them not be pre-occupied by the Presidential elections of 2022 saying they should leave it in the hands of God and tackle the immediate challenges facing the country.

Njoroge criticized the opposition for engaging in endless rhetoric and not giving viable solutions.

Shebesh and Waweru said the Government was on course in implementing its programmes.

They said they were certain Jubilee will be re-elected in next year’s General Election.
