“I thought he was joking – only to see him (Mayo) raping the lady. The lady started crying after he finished, he then pulled me by the shirt and he told me ‘Have you heard? What is this?’ I told him this is a gun. He then told me its work is to finish people. So do not play with me.”
In his statement he explained that he had to pay Daisy’s medical bills fearing that the rape ordeal would leak out if she missed money for her treatment.
He alleged to have paid Sh3,000 after Daisy was treated at a hospital in Embu.
During that time, Ouma further stated that Mayo kept on reminding him to keep his mouth shut, or else he would kill him.
He told police that he stayed quiet and even was told not to record police statements until May 7, 2012 when he was summoned by the Criminal Investigations Directorate in Embu to record the statement quoted in this report.
He stated that he did not rape Daisy.
“It is not me who raped that lady, she was raped by APC Mayo. There was no any senior NCO within the compound. There were only constables and the recruits,” Ouma told police investigators.
On May 8, 2012, Mayo who is alleged to have gang-raped Daisy alongside Ouma, recorded a statement saying that he was on duty and there was no any familiar incident that occurred on the day that Daisy was allegedly raped.
