NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 10 – Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology students are now demanding justice after their colleague died after alleged food poisoning.

The students who held protests late on Tuesday have accused the university dispensary of negligence when attending to the student.

They are also accusing police of using excessive force to disperse them during the riots that left property of unknown value destroyed.

“After visiting the hospital, all the doctors were arrogantly ignorant of the matter and even refused to give explanation on how the student just died,” a student official said.

As a result, the students are calling for an indefinite closure of the university dispensary, until their grievances are addressed.

“The doctors have vowed to keep the students leaders who visited the hospital in darkness and conceal the facts about what really happened,” the official lamented.

They want the senior hospital management officials dismissed over what they term as sluggish manner on how they deal with emergency cases.

Police engaged the students in running battles before calm was restored.
