MACHAKOS, Kenya, Mar 31 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement has so far opened 30 offices in Ukambani and other parts of the country, terming the movement as unstoppable.
Mutua said these offices will be used to engage the public in this new political paradigm shift that focuses on bringing speedy, real and tangible change to citizens.
“The offices will also register members and friends of Maendeleo Chap Chap. The journey to change the political landscape in Ukambani and the country at large has begun,” said Mutua after officially opening the Machakos Town Maendeleo Chap Chap offices.
Mutua later opened the movement offices in Emali town, Makueni County and Kitui town in Kitui County.
He said that he will not be derailed by a section of politicians from Ukambani who have alleged that he was dividing the community adding that the leaders were afraid of change.
“For all of us to effectively roll back poverty, create employment, build roads, provide better health services, water and improve the daily lives of wananchi, we need a new, rapid development formula and that formula is Maendeleo Chap Chap,” said Mutua.

“These leaders are constantly criticizing others and talking of poverty levels only to hood wink wananchi but they have done very little to fight poverty,” said Mutua.
He added that they have nothing to show in terms of development but empty rhetoric, as our mothers still walk kilometres to the river for water, and our youth face joblessness.
“The time for these selfish leaders is gone. This is the time for real change championed by those who offer servant leadership and whose focus is the people,” said Mutua.
The Machakos Governor was accompanied by MPs Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Dr Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town) Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile and over 30 Members of County Assembly.
Munyaka and Musyoka said the movement was unstoppable and urged the people to register in large numbers as members.
Munyaka hit out at a section of opposition leaders whom he said had publicly declared that they will not accept the 2017 presidential elections results terming them as alarmists.
“They must be ready to accept defeat and move on,” said Munyaka.
Ndile said Mutua was a visionary leader who was committed to offering political and economic transformation to the region.
“He is a new brand of leaders who is doing God’s work. I urge like-minded leaders to join Maendeleo Chap Chap and walk along with him,” said Ndile.
Ndambuki said action and not empty talk and self-glorification was the drive behind the movement adding that it was focussed on the people and their development.
Maendeleo Chap Chap has already opened offices in Nairobi, Mombasa and Taveta, and has set up others in each of the 22 Constituencies of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties.
“We will in the next two weeks, be opening more offices as part of our strategy to engage with wananchi in all parts of our country,” said Mutua.
He urged all peace loving and Maendeleo focused Wananchi who are tired of being lied to, tired of the shame of food relief, tired of suffering with no water, to become friends of Maendeleo Chap Chap by registering as members of this new movement to political and economic prosperity.
Mutua also encouraged all sitting and aspiring political leaders to join the movement saying it cuts across all political affiliations and is focused on the citizens so as to change the people’s lives through servant and people centred leadership.
