The beds worth Sh1.2 million were donated by Nairobi Enterprises Limited (NEL) which specializes in hospital equipment.
“We make such donations to hospitals from time to time to ensure patients are catered for in both private and public hospitals,” NEL’s General Manager Amos Mong’ony said when he handed over the beds to the hospital’s Chief Administrator Dr Iqbal Khandwalla.
Also present was Mombasa County’s Health Minister Mohammed Abdi and the company’s Mombasa representative Noor Mohammed.
Most public hospitals face an acute shortage of beds and other vital equipment which the national and county governments have pledged to purchase.
But most counties have lately blamed the national government of delaying funds disbursements to enable them adequately equip hospitals therefore hampering operations.
