Kidero who appeared before the Special Committee investigating Justice Tunoi, denied bribing him so that the Supreme Court could rule in his favour in an election petition challenging his election/FILE
NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 2 – Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has threatened to sue anyone who will link him to the alleged bribery of Justice Philip Tunoi with Sh200million.
Kidero who appeared before the Special Committee investigating Justice Tunoi, denied bribing him so that the Supreme Court could rule in his favour in an election petition challenging his election.
Kidero has reiterated that he’s neither met the judge in person or his accuser Geoffrey Kiplagat.
Kidero has instead accused lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi of pushing a vendetta.
The Governor claims that Abdullahi is bitter that he did not hire him in the election petition filed by Ferdinand Waititu who challenged his 2013 election as Nairobi Governor.
Waititu has since been elected as Kabete MP.
He says Abdullahi who later represented Waititu had demanded a Sh25 million upfront payment.
On Monday, Tunoi and his accuser Kiplagat appeared before the same committee to shed more light on the scandal that is threatening to bring down the Judiciary.
The six-member committee is due to give its verdict on Wednesday.
