Mutua through his Press Secretary Mutinda Mwanzia said he briefed Kikwete of the Maendeleo Chap Chap movement and what it was committed to achieving in terms of development and progressive politics.
“Kikwete also gave me advice on how to balance politics and development. He told me I should continue in the same vein of development in Machakos and should not allow myself to be distracted by side shows,” said Mutua.
Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement has caused stir in Ukambani and the country due to its ideology which focuses on politics of development and not poverty.
Mutua has insisted that he was not interested in becoming a tribal or regional political kingpin but was committed to offering transformative leadership which will help accelerate development.
“I have always said there is no romance in poverty .I am in the forefront in changing our politics from those of selfishness to those of prosperity. The people must be first in my agenda,” said Mutua.
The Machakos Governor also invited Kikwete to visit the county and thanked him for the support which he gave him when he was campaigning for gubernatorial seat in the 2013 polls.
“I also encouraged Kikwete to write a book about his experiences which are rich and he told me he is looking forward to taking time off from his busy schedule to do exactly that,” said Mutua.
He thanked Kikwete for his words of wisdom and guidance which he said will go a long way in enabling him deliver development in Machakos.
Two weeks ago, Mutua also held talks with Kenyans living in Tanzania and where he urged them to invest in Machakos.
He said the county had many opportunities for investments and a conducive business environment for investors.
