In the list of nominees adopted by the House on Tuesday, CORD ejected Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani and Lang’ata MP Joash Olum from the 29-member House agenda setting team.
The trio was replaced with Minority Deputy Whip Chris Wamalwa, Mombasa County Woman Representative Mishi Mboko and North Horr’s Chachu Ganya.
Momanyi and Mwashetani, who have openly expressed their support for the Jubilee Coalition, have been accused of rebellion and insubordination by CORD that sponsored them to Parliament in 2013.
National Assembly Minority Chief Whip Thomas Mwadeghu explained the members were de-whipped due cases of absenteeism.
“The changes have been necessitated by the realisation that some of the members whose names appear in this and the former list never bothered to turn up for committee business and so it became apparent that the committee composition must be changed,” he said.
Majority Leader Aden Duale questioned the move saying the three where being unfairly targeted.
“We are dealing with Members of Parliament; we are not dealing with volunteers out there. We must at all times, give very good reasons to members of this House who serve at the behest of the voters and constituency they represent,” Duale stated.
Last year, CORD removed Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro as Minority Chief Whip in the National Assembly for allegedly working with the government replacing him with Thomas Mwadeghu.
The Jubilee Coalition seats on the committee are occupied by Katoo ole Metito, Naomi Shaban, Jamleck Kamau, William Cheptumo, Maalim Mahamud, David Were, Z. K. Cheruiyot, Mithika Linturi, John Serut, Cecilia Ngetich, Priscilla Nyokabi, Rachael Nyamai, Peter Shehe, Joyce Emanikor Akai, Sakaja Johnson, Florence Kajuju and Stephen Kinyanjui Mburu.
CORD positions are occupied by MPs Jakoyo Midiwo, Thomas Mwadeghu, Jessica Mbalu, Wafula Wamunyinyi, Victor Munyaka, Makali Mulu, Susan Musyoka, Gladys Wanga and Dennitah Ghati.
Duale and House Minority Leader Francis Nyenze also sit in the Committee chaired by the Speaker.
