, NYANDARUA, Kenya, Feb 21 – Jubilee Members of Parliament Sunday rallied support for Deputy President William Ruto and said they will not allow few dissenters to reduce him to regional politics.

They dismissed those who were backing a Kanu candidate in the Kericho County Senatorial race saying they were spoiling for the government.

The MPs mainly from central Kenya said they will not allow a few politicians to make Deputy President Ruto a regional leader.

The MPs were speaking at Ndunyu Njeru Catholic Church in Nyandarua County during a Sunday service attended by Ruto.

Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Mwangi and his Deputy Waithaka Kiriika Mwangi also gave similar sentiments.

“The Deputy President is a national leader and we will not allow a few selfish politicians to reduce him to a regional leader,” said Waititu.

Muriuki said the politicians who were supporting a Kanu candidate were out to join the Opposition.

Metito who is the Jubilee Chief Whip cautioned Jubilee supporters from being misled to join small fringe parties who were out to spoil for the government.

The MPs urged Kericho residents to back the Jubilee party candidate in the forthcoming Senate by-election.

They also asked Jubilee party supporters to turn up in large numbers and register as voters.

Ruto asked jubilee party supporters remain steadfast and support the party.

He said a few opponents of the party in Kericho wanted to create small fiefdoms for personal gain.

Said Ruto:”We cannot form government then leave it to go to the Opposition to pursue mirages.”

Ruto reiterated that Jubilee party’s commitment to unite Kenyans was unstoppable saying parties founded on outdated sectional or tribal lines will be vanquished.

“That is the reason why all Jubilee affiliate parties are uniting ahead of the General Elections 2017,” he added.
