The Rarieda MP cites the directive should not apply to his committee which was reconstituted in April after Parliament adopted the recommendations of the Powers and Privileges Committee to disband it following wrangles between members.
“There is still a lacuna there because you remember when the Speaker made a pronouncement he was very clear that the old committee was to be disbanded and a new committee was formed. We have asked him for an opinion so that it is very clear, on how long the new committee was to last,” he said as he declared he will be defending his position.
Gumbo took over from Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba who was kicked out of the team with five other members after they publicly accused each other of taking bribes to alter Committee recommendations in favour of those under investigations.
