Dr Ayisi was previously Nairobi City Council’s Medical Health officer from 2009-2014/CFM NEWS
The position was until then held in an acting capacity by Finance County Executive Committee Member Gregory Mwakanongo who has reverted back to his original posting.
“This is to inform you that Dr Robert Ayisi, MBS has been appointed as the County Secretary of the Nairobi City County Government with immediate effect. Please accord him all the necessary cooperation and support,” a circular by Governor Evans Kidero indicated.
The post initially become vacant when Lillian Ndegwa was forced to step aside after being implicated in graft in a report released by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Ndegwa was charged together with two other employees with defrauding the county of Sh17.9 million.
She was accused of stealing the money from the county’s account held at Co-operative Bank’s City Hall Branch. The three later denied the charges.
Ayisi was the Chief Medical Officer at City Hall from 2009 and is distinguished for having led renovation of physical infrastructure and automation of health services.
He was also instrumental in the improvement of the Nairobi Central Business District (NCBD) image by spearheading building painting by owners.
