NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 6 – A Kenya Forest Service officer has been seriously injured in an attack by residents of Kajulu in Kisumu.

Police say the incident occurred at about 6am after the locals retaliated when forest guards in the region killed a logger.

The residents hit back by burning the forest service offices and attacking the officer.

The body of the man was found within Bunjoga forest in the border of Kisumu and Nandi.

According to the residents, he was cutting trees in the protected forest when he was killed.

The locals went to KFS station that houses the forest officers and burnt it down.

Three guns are still unaccounted for and the police are appealing to the locals to surrender the firearms.
