NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 25 – A plan to escape by prisoners at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison was on Sunday night foiled in an operation by prison wardens.

Kenya Prisons Commissioner General Isaiah Osugo says no prisoner managed to escape saying the facuility is usually on a high alert since such plans are always in the offing.

“There is no prisoner that wants to remain locked up. Nobody wants to stay in the prison,” he told Capital FM News.

There were no injuries from both parties.

It is not yet clear how many prisoners attempted to escape and how they had planned to execute their mission.

Kamiti holds some of the hardcore criminals in the country.
