NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 5 – Blogger Robert Alai has been charged for claiming that EACC chief executive Halakhe Waqo has a fake degree.

Charges read to the blogger before Milimani Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo stated that he caused annoyance to the EACC boss by claiming that Waqo got his job by using a forged University of Nairobi degree.

The State accuses him of improper use of a licensed telecommunication system when he posted the claims on November 18, 2015.

The allegations were posted on Alai’s Twitter handle in which he is accused of stating that it was ironical for the EACC boss to fight corruption using a fake degree.

Alai denied the claims and has been freed on Sh100,000 bond with a surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh30,000.

Alai has faced other related charges in the past.
