MPs seek more time to vet Cabinet and PS nominees

In his Communication to the House on Wednesday, Muturi directed that the nominations of Arts and Culture PS Joe Okudo, Sports Development PS Richard Nkai and Tourism PS Fatuma Hersi will be handled by the House Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare.

The department Committee on Energy, Communication and Information will also conduct the vetting of three PSs namely: Andrew Kamau( Petroleum) Sammy Itemere (Broadcasting and Communications) and Victor Kyalo (ICT and Innovation)

Charles Sunkuli (Environment), Margaret Mwakima (Natural Resources) and Fred Sigor (National Water Services) vetting will be handled by the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.

Dr Paul Mwangi (Public Works) will appear before the Departmental Committees on Transport, Housing and Public Work while Nicholas Muraguri (Health) will appear before the Health committee. Patrick Mwangi (Irrigation) and Ali Noor Ismail (Co-operatives) will be vetted by the Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives Committee.

Finance Planning and Trade Committee will handle the vetting of Saitoti Torome (Planning and Statistics).

The Administration and National Security Committee will conduct the vetting of the Correctional Services PS Michael Owuor while newly appointed Defence PS Ambassador Peter Kaberia will appear before the House team on Defence and Foreign Relations.

The Speaker directed the nomination of Youth and Public Service PS Lilian Omolo be handled by a joint committee on Administration of Justice and that on Labour and Social Welfare while the nomination of Maritime Commerce PS Nancy Karigilu will also be handled by a joint House Committee on Environment, and Natural Resource and that on Finance Planning and Trade.
