Uhuru given ‘Ark of the Covenant’ with good tidings for Kenya

The top of the chest were two carved cherubim facing each other and covered in gold with their wings spread out so that they touched. The cover of the Ark where the cherubim sat was called the ‘seat of mercy’ and made of pure gold. Between the Cherubim, God showed his glory

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 22 – It was an extra-ordinary Sunday Service at the Apostles of Jesus Shrine in Karen, as at first, the usual order of events had to be shortened to give time to an extra-ordinary session.

I could bet President Uhuru Kenyatta who was in attendance could not predict the dramatic events that saw him handed over a replica of the Ark of the Covenant that is said bring ‘good tidings’ to the country which has lately been undergoing challenging times.

Kenya’s ambassador to Israel Lt. Gen (rtd) Augustino Njoroge was the man who was at the forefront of ensuring the structure arrived and was in good state, and he could not hide his joy.

“It is an accomplishment, I am very happy. I got it in 2013 and it has taken this much time to be consecrated here – for me it is a relief that we have celebrated the presence of God in his country,” he said.

This particular structure said to be the largest among six others in existence, were made by Sister Grace Galindez-Gupana, a Philippine born Jerusalem prophetess who says was inspired by the Lord’s voice to make the replica’s for each continent.

Sister Grace said she had come with a message and a spiritual gift for the people and that, “today, the Jubilee land was receiving the Horn of the Ram.”

“Any accusations and any words of killing are now gone because we will restore your land,” she said, amid cheers and ululations from the congregation.

Njoroge said the consecration of the Ark signified a new beginning for Kenya which would now be shielded from ‘evil’ and there was now a reason to be hopeful.

He added that this coinciding with the anticipated visit by Pope Francis went a long way into showing how favoured the country was and hence called on Kenyans to form a united front to confront the challenges facing the country.

President Uhuru Kenyatta noted the significance of the structure, describing it as a “symbol of peace and reconciliation” for the country.

The Bible in Exodus 40: 36-38 describes the Ark as a kind of chest made of acacia wood and was stored in the Holy of Hollies in the tabernacle.

“The top of the chest were two carved cherubim facing each other and covered in gold with their wings spread out so that they touched. The cover of the Ark where the cherubim sat was called the ‘seat of mercy’ and made of pure gold. Between the Cherubim, God showed his glory,” read the Shrines’ bulletin.

During the handover to president Uhuru Kenyatta, Sister Grace said the story of the people of Israel who built the Ark after their Exodus from Egypt was the same story for Kenya, as the ark was a constant reminder of God’s presence.

The Ark will remain in the custody of the Apostles of Jesus Shrine and Kenyans are free to visit, have a look and even present their prayer petitions.
