Police release traffic, security measures for Pope’s visit

Any other road in between Silver Springs, Kenyatta Avenue and Uhuru Highway will be blocked including 5th Ngong Avenue.

Vehicles intending to use Dennis Pritt Road will also be blocked just near the State House gate D.

Part of Lenana Road down to Milimani will also be blocked so that people do not access Valley Road at State House Avenue/Kenyatta Avenue intersections.

Vehicles that intend to use Arboretum road will end up near Kileleshwa Petrol station on Ring Road-Kileleshwa road.

Vehicles from western direction normally using Waiyaki way will be blocked just after Kempinsky hotel. They will not be able to access University Way roundabout from that place.

The overpass and the underpass at Ojijo towards Riverside will also be blocked.

Vehicles from Central, Eastern and North Eastern regions that will be using Thika Superhighway will be blocked at Forest Road.

Vehicles from Thika Superhighway that uses Murang’a Road will be blocked at University Way near Lillian Towers.

Uhuru Highway will also be blocked along Kenyatta Avenue just about near GPO.

Posta Road will also be blocked and also the slip road towards City Hall way.

Parliament roundabout will not be accessible from Uhuru Highway since it will be blocked just after the Intercontinental Hotel.

Haile Selassie Avenue will not be accessible from Upper Hill area near NHIF past the roundabout towards Moi -Haile Selassie Roundabout.

Parking Areas Identified: Vehicles from Eastern direction (Coast and Eastern region) will be parked at Nyayo Stadium, Capital Centre, Police Pavilion (South c) and Don Bosco Catholic Church.

Cars approaching the CBD from Ngong Road will also park at the same venues.

Vehicles from Waiyaki Way will park at Saint Austin, Lavington Primary, Nairobi School, Strathmore and Consolata Shrine (for the priests).

Vehicles from Thika Road and Jogoo Road will park St Peters Clavers Primary School, Highridge College, Aga Khan School, Jamia Mosque Parking area near Globe Interchange, Premier Academy, Nairobi University School of Law at Parklands.

Other areas include KICC grounds, parking spaces opposite Laico Regency hotel, Geology College and Chiromo parking area.
