A team of police officers conducted a swoop in Faza and managed to arrest one Muhamed Athumani Mujaid and his brother Anuar Omati Imam.
Sources within police indicate that the two are Al Shabaab returnees who had sneaked back to the country.
Lamu East Police Boss Kioi Nyagah said officers acting on intelligence report raided the village and managed to arrest the two whom he termed as ‘dangerous.’
Nyagah said the two are suspected to be behind killings targeting non locals in the area of Kizingitini.
The two were handed over to a team of Anti-Terrorism Police officers for further interrogation and profiling.
Lamu has witnessed relative calm since the Operation Linda Boni led by Kenya Defence Force to flush out the Al Shabaab militants.
Several suspects have been arrested and militants’ camps destroyed in the vast forest used as training and recruitment of Kenyan youths to Al Shabaab.
