Those who spoke to Capital FM News on Tuesday attributed this to expected traffic changes and security measures which may interfere with normal movement within the city.
“I will be watching and listening to the Pope’s message in the house. It will be a busy day so there may be no opportunity to come to town, because they said the roads will be closed. This may be just like President Obama visit, so I will just be at home,” one of the residents said.
For example roads to closed on his arrival on Wednesday, will be the stretch from the exit of JKIA all the way down through Mombasa Road, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue and State House Avenue will be affected on Wednesday evening.

“I will be definitely be listening to him and watching him on television. But if there will be an opportunity not to go to work, I can go and see him at the University of Nairobi,” middle aged woman from Nairobi says.
“The best I will do is go to church in one of the days then the next I rest at home,” a Nairobi businessman said.
However, some said they will have to follow the Pope visit proceedings from their places of work despite the public holiday announced for Thursday 26.
“I have just heard that there will be a public holiday I don’t tomorrow or Thursday, but all I know is I will be at work as usual. Probably what I will do is follow the proceedings on TV at work,” another resident said.
Pope Francis is expected to arrive on Wednesday evening up to Friday when he will head to Uganda before proceeding to Central Africa Republic.
Residents are expected to experience major traffic changes during the Pope Francis visit and which are meant to ensure free movement of His Holiness to various venues and to ensure security.
